Vito was the son of Antonio Alfonso and Maria Pecoraro. He was born in Prizzi, Sicily. He came to Amrica on the S.S. Prinz Oscar on 17 Apr 1905 landing in New York. On 8 May 1912 in Trinidad, he married Anna Cannella. They were contracted for marriage while children in Sicily. They had 12 children. Vito was a coal miner and was in the big mine explosion at Delagua, Colorado where 7 men died. He was the second to last to get out alive. In 1918-1919 Vito was drafted into the army but Maria having little children and not speaking english didn't want him to go so they moved to Wattis Utah and lived for a few years then returned to Trinidad where he died.
