Therese Meissner, 92, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Pierson, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 27, 2000, at Fairview Lakes Regional Health Care Center. Services were held at the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Correctionville, Iowa. Burial followed in Fairfield Rock Branch Cemetery in rural Correctionville under direction of the Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home. Mrs. Meissner was born August 8, 1908, in rural Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of August and Emma (Bauer) Riemenschneider. She grew up on a farm near Pierson and was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church. She married W. P. "Bill" Meissner. They later divorced. She moved to Sioux City where she worked at Martin's Department Store. In the 1960s she moved to the Orange/Golden Grove, California, area. There she worked for the May Company and later for Aetna Insurance Company. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and later St. Olaf Church. She was active in the seniors group. She enjoyed square dancing and traveling. She had toured many parts of the world. In 1988 she moved to Chisago City, Minnesota, where she lived until March 2000 when she moved to Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake, Minnesota. While living in Chisago City, she was active in senior groups and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed growing plants, fishing, crocheting, sewing and quilting. Survivors include a son and his wife, George and Dee Meissner; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur; a granddaughter, Karen; two brothers; and two sisters.
