Following a brief illness, Ellen Marie Fett, 81, died peacefully July 6, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital, Sioux

City, IA.

Funeral services were held at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls onSunday, July 12 with the Rev. David

Zirpel officiating.

Interment was in the Lennox Cemetery.

Ellen Marie Fett was born near Holland, MN on Jan. 9, 1928,

the daughter of Elmer and Alvina (Weinkauf) Thomas. She grew up in this area attending rural school in Pipestone County. In 1946 she graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture. She worked as a Nursing Assistant in Pipestone, MN and Luverne, MN.

On Sept. 6, 1953 she married Chester B. Fett at Holland, MN. The couple farmed near Lennox and Gary, SD until Chester's death in 1963. She then lived in Lennox and later Sioux Falls. In 1968 she graduated from the Sioux Falls School of Practical Nursing in 1968. She would work for Sioux

Valley Hospital as an L.P.N. for over 25 years. In 2002 she relocated to South Sioux City, NE where she lived until her death. Ellen enjoyed sewing, crafting, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She was also active in the LWML and her local and state LPN associations.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters: Wilma Fett, Norman, OK and Janet (David) Fett-Wictor, South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren: Katie and Sara Wictor; siblings: Elener Mueller, Mora, MN, Fay Dehler, Onemia, MN,

Francis Thomas, Waldorf, MD, Alvin (Ellen) Thomas, Lake Benton, MN, Carol (Ralph) Courtney, Tyler, MN, Evelyn Schmidt and David Thomas, Sioux Falls; in-laws: Louis Thomas, Carol Thomas (Chuck Jensen), LeRoy (Doris) Fett, Kathryn Fett of Lennox and many other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by siblings: James, Edwin R., Mildred, Sharla and Richard L. Thomas, Ardis Knutson and two infant brothers.
