Arlene Marion Carson was born 06 Feb 1914 in Oneonta, Otsego Co, NY, the daughter of Frank Carson and Mamie M. Gardner.

She married Joseph Francis Bates on 06 Feb 1937 in Westwood, Bergen Co, NJ, the son of William Bates and Margaret Holligan. They had four children: Joseph Francis Bates, Jr, Dolores Sharon, and twins Patricia Carol and Patrick (Patrick died in infancy).

She married second to John A. Sokol on 10 Aug 1973.

SOKOL, ARLENE BATES, 83, of Floral City, died Sunday (Feb.1, 1998) at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Born in Oneonta, NY, she came here 20 years ago from Newark, NJ. She was a retired cafeteria manager for the Newark Board of Education and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She was a member of the Floral City Garden Club, Floral City Women's Club, Floral City Civic Center, Crystal River Yacht Club, Crystal River Power Squad and North Bergen VFW Auxiliary and past president for two terms of the Retired Officers Association Women's Club. Survivors include her husband, John A.; a son Joseph Bates, Largo; two daughters, Sharon Bell, Hopatcong, NJ and Patricia Czeczuga, Edgewater, NJ; four sisters, Billie Seymour, Bradenton, Dorothy Crosby, Illinois, Ruth Aiello, Fairfield Glade, Tenn, and Lois Bailey, Inverness; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
