OWENSBORO MESSENGER OBITUARY – 02/14/1913
AGED WOMAN - MRS. MARY PAYNE, MARRIED SIXTY-FIVE YEARS, DIES - EIGHTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE - THE DECEASED HAS FORTY-FIVE GRANDCHILDREN
Mrs. Mary Payne died at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon [February 13, 1913], at her home, No. 618 Triplett Street. A general debility caused her death. She had been in declining health for several months, and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Payne was eighty-five years of age, and had been a resident of Owensboro for many years. She enjoyed a wide acquaintance and was universally popular in Owensboro. Sixty-five years ago she was married to W.H. Payne. To this union eight children were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Payne, who is eighty-eight years old, also survives. Last year in the month of October, Mr. & Mrs. Payne celebrated the anniversary of their wedding. Forty-five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren survive her. The funeral will be conducted from St. Paul's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. E.S. Fitzgerald, pastor of the church officiating. The interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery. The following will act as pallbearers: Charles Drury, Charles Dorn, Henry Smith, C.R. Mattingly, Dr. Rodman and John Greenwell.

E.S. Fitzgerald, pastor of the church, officiating. The interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery. The following will act as pallbearers: Charles Drury, Charles Dorn, Henry Smith, C.R. Mattingly, Dr. Rodman and John Greenwell.
