OWENSBORO MESSENGER OBITUARY – 04/24/1913

W.H. PAYNE DIES AFTER PROTRACTED ILLNESS

W.H. Payne died at his home, No. 821 Allen Street, at 1:20 o'clock yesterday morning [April 23, 1913], after a protracted illness. His condition had been critical for over a week, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Payne was eighty-eight years old, and was born in Marion Co., KY but moved to Daviess Co. about forty years ago, where he had lived until the past year, when he moved to Owensboro. He is survived by the following children: John Payne, Owensboro; James Payne, Guston, KY; Miss Sue Payne, Owensboro; Mrs. Jennie Knott, Browns Valley; Mrs. Ella Hill, Owensboro; Mrs. C.A. Drury, Daviess county; Richard Payne, Curdsville; William Payne, Owensboro. Mrs. Payne died during the month of February. Mr. Payne was a well-known and respected citizen of Owensboro and his many friends are grieved to hear of his death. The funeral arrangements have not been completed.
