A funeral will be held Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 for 78-year-old Herman J. Kiefer of Perryville who died September 23, 2009 at his home.
He was born May 31, 1931 in Perry County, the son of Herman C. Kiefer and Bernice Zahner Kiefer who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons: Shane (Diane) Kiefer of Salina, Kansas and Cody (Erica) Kiefer of Perryville; a daughter: Kayla (Tony) Stewart of Steeleville, Illinois; a brother: Everett Kiefer of Perryville; grandchildren: Apryl, Matthew, Nicholas, Christopher, Josh, Lindsay, Josh, Kaitlin, Destany, Preston and Allison and greatgrandchildren: Alexis, Jayden, Brian Allen II and Kally
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters and a grandchild: Heath Kiefer.
He was the owner/operator of Kiefer Building Supply in Perryville.
He served in the National Guard.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 133.
He was a local musician, playing music with several groups in the area for many years.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, September 28th and 6:30-9:50 a.m. Tuesday, September 29th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers at 5:30 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral mass for 78-year-old Herman J. Kiefer of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 29th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Milton Ryan, CM will officiate.
Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post No. 133.
