Pauline Gerk, 74, of Sterling, died Sunday, March 22, 1999 in Sterling of natural causes.
A rosary and vigil service will be held today, March 24 at 7 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thurs day, March 25 at 11 am. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Whipkey officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
Mrs. Gerk was born on Jan. 25, 1925 to Frank and Anna (Vaughn) Mildenberger in Sterling. She grew up and attended St. Anthony School in Sterling.
She worked at Montgomery Wards in Sterling for 17 years until it closed. She then worked at Northeastern Junior College as a librarian and, retired in 1980. Mrs. Gerk was a member of
St. Anthony Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters, and was treasurer for the Legion of Mary. She helped at Cooperative Ministries, was involved in the League of Women Voters, and acted as a polling judge for many years. She enjoyed her family, faith, and the hobby of crocheting, winning several awards at the fair.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Gerk of Sterling, three children, three grandchildren, and three sisters.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
