Walter A. Scheidt, 72, husband of the former Eva I. Mertz, died Friday night in his Dryville home, Fleetwood R. 1. Born in Rockland Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late Jacob and Marianne (Brintzenhoff) Scheidt. Scheidt retired seven years ago, having worked for Mack Trucks in Allentown as a paint rubber. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Dryville. Surviving with his widow are four daughters, Mabel, wife of Warren Boyer of Mertztown R. 1, Schirla, wife of Ralph Silsdorf of Bowers, Roma, wife of Paul Houptley, and Mrs. Mildred Schaeffer, both of Fleetwood R. 1; a son, Paul of Kutztown; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Christ Church. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday in the Schofer Funeral Home, Topton.
