Died--At the home of his son, A.H. Morris, on Painterhood Tuesday, April 1, 1902, Cyrus Morris.
Mr. Morris was born in Rockbridge county, Va., July 30, 1825. He moved with his parents to Ohio, in the early thirtys, and from there to Illinois in 1840. He was married near Bloomington, Illinois, in 46, to Matilda Cuningham. To them eight children were born five of whom are now living; K. Morris living near Elk Falls, A.H. at whose home he died, Mrs. John Atkinson living in the state of Washington, Mrs. James L. Clark of Chetopa, Kansas and James P. Morris now in Oklahoma. They came to Anderson County, Kansas in 1857 and moved from these to Cherokee Co, in 1871.
He has been a resident of Elk Co. for ten years. Grandpa Morris was loved and respected by all who knew him, he was honest upright and industrious.
We do not believe there was ever a harsh word against any-one, pass his lips. He will be greatly missed from this community especially by his grand children of whom he was very fond. (D.A.E./The Longton Gleaner, Longton, Kansas, 4 Apr 1902, Fri, Page 2)
Mr Morris an old and respected citizen died at the home of his son A Morris two miles north of Longton. The remains were buried in the Longton cemetery last Wednesday. (D.A.E./Longton News & Elk Falls Reflector, 4 Apr 1902, Page 2)
