Jetmore - John L. Stramel, 92, died Saturday at the Good Samaritan Home, Dodge City, after a brief illness. Born Jan. 29, 1879 in Kamenka, Russia.

He married Lena Stegman in October of 1901, in Pfeifer. She died Feb. 25, 1949.

Stamel came to Hodgeman County in 1916 and settled on a farm 15 miles northwest of Jetmore. He moved to Jetmore in 1940 and to Dodge City in 1947. In 1958, Stramel moved back to Jetmore where he lived until 1968, when he entered the Good Samaritan Home, Dodge City. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include seven sons, Carl, Hutchinson; Andrew, Dodge City; Mike, Jacksonville, Fla.; Albert, Iowa City, Iowa; Ernest, Ranson; Malcolm, Jetmore; Hilary, Dodge City; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Schauvliege, Jetmore; Mrs. Katherine Kropp, Spearville; and Mrs. Tillie Lane, Grinnell, Iowa; 65 grandchildren, 140 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Clem, Hays, and Steve, Pfeifer.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at church. Father Fred Tuzizka will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A Parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today and from 1 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis Chapel, Jetmore.
