Augustine Stremel, 72, son of Michael and Catherine Smith Stremel, was born December 27, 1887 at Kamenka, Russia and died April 4 at the Rush County Memorial Hospital. He came to Pfeifer in 1890. He married Elizabeth Roth on May 4, 1915 at Pfeifer. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. A son, Clifford preceded him in death, February 20, 1953 at the age of 26 years. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Engel, Bison; Mrs. Victoria Ficken, LaCrosse, one son, Celestine Stremel, McCracken; three brothers, John, Clemens and Steven. Burial in the LaCrosse Cemetery.
