The Anthon Herald, February 1993: Daniel J. Curtin, 88, passed away on January 30, 1993, at a nursing home in Correctionville, Iowa. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, February 2, 1993, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Anthon, Iowa, with Rev. Gerald Zensen officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Craig, Fred Thompson, Paul O'Connell, Walter Craig, Frank Schuh. Pallbearers were Bill Metz, Matt Curtin, Albert "Boots" McNamara, Joe O'Connell, Phillip Yockey, Frank Weathers. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Daniel J. Curtin, son of Jeffrey and Catherine (Coyne) Curtin, was born January 28, 1905, in Anthon, Iowa. He attended country school and St. Joseph's Catholic Parochial School in Anthon. He married Mable Bennett Kissinger December 6, 1939, in Anthon. She died August 12, 1959. He owned and operated Tom & Dan's Restaurant in Anthon and also farmed in the Anthon area. On January 22, 1962, he married Carolyn Yanacheak in Moville. Dan was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, a daughter, Margaret Finzen of Sterling, Colorado; a step-daughter, Mary Yanacheak of Sioux City; two step-sons, Charles Yanacheak of Mason City and Tom Yanacheak of Ida Grove; a brother, Matt, of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Chanel Finzen, Stanley Finzen and Nancy Finzen; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Finzen. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
