Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church for Joseph G. Loxtercamp, 87, who died Sunday at Pine Villa Care Center, Melrose. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 tonight and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. St. Michael's Men's Society and Lake Henry American Legion will pray at 7 tonight at the funeral home in Melrose followed by parish prayers at 8.
Joseph Loxtercamp was born in Meire Grove to George and Mary (Kampsen) Loxterkamp. He married Alberta M. Schleper Backes on May 19, 1960, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Greenwald.
The couple farmed near Greenwald until retiring in 1990. He lived in Pine Haven at Pine Villa Care Center since December 1999.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, St. Michael's Men's Society and Lake Henry American Legion Post 612.
Survivors include his wife; Alberta, step-children, Nicholas Backes of Sauk Centre, Margaret Theilman of Avon, Gary Backes of St. Cloud, David Backes of Greenwald, Dennis Backes of Dayton, and Paul Loxtercamp of Bemidji; sisters and brothers, Sister Georgetta Loxterkamp of St. Paul Priory, St. Paul, Beata Frieler, Henry and Leo of Melrose, Fred of St. Paul, Rose Uphoff of Greenwald, Tony Loxterkamp of Swanville, and Ray Loxtercamp of Lake Henry; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Loxterkamp; brothers, Al, Ben and Otto Loxtercamp and Herman Loxterkamp.

The name Loxterkamp was changed in 1942 to Loxtercamp (changing the "K" to a "C). . George and Mary's children spell the last name Loxtercamp, except for Herman, Tony & Sr. Georgette.
