Herman Loxterkamp died on July 6, 1942 at the age of 35 years and one day. His funeral mass took place on Thrusday, July 9th; followed by his burial in St. John's Cemetery in Meire Grove, Minn. Herman's death made Bertha Loxtercamp a widow at the age of 34 years.
On October 12, 1954, Bertha married John B Uphus. Bertha died in February 1993 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose, Minn.

The family name changed from Loxterkamp to Loxtercamp in 1942. Because Herman died before the change was made and thus, he and his wife, Bertha Loxterkamp Uphus, retained the original spelling of the family name.
