Another of the old pioneer settlers of Miner County passed away last Saturday night when Mrs. Theresia Meyer died at about 10:45pm at the home of her daughter Mrs. Peter Schmit on the west side of the city of Howard. Mrs. Meyer had been a sufferer from asthma for several years and for some time had been afflicted with dropsy, but was not thought to be in a serious condition until the day of her death. She had been up and about the house on Friday, but was taken worse on Saturday and that night passed away peacefully and apparently without suffering. Heart failure was the immediate cause of death.

For a number of years Mrs. Meyer had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Schmit, but for the past year had been visiting at the homes of several of her other relatives. On September 20 she returned to Howard, coming from Wessington where she had spent some time at the home of her son Lewis Meyer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Catholic church in this city, Father Stecher officiating, and interment was made in the Catholic cemtery.

OBITUARY: Theresia Leibold was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, May 26, 1853, and died at Howard, South Dakota, October 16, 1926, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 21 days. She was united in marriage with Aloysius Meyer in February, 1871, and came with her husband to Miner County in 1883, and this has been her home ever since. To this union were born one daughter and eight sons. The husband and four of the sons perceded the mother in death.

The surviving children are Mrs. Catherine Schmit, Howard; Matt Meyer, Mott, ND; Lewis Meyer, Wessington, SD; Mike Meyer, Osakis, MN; and William Meyer, Bellingham, Washington. There are also left three brothers, Mike Leibold, New Hampton, Iowa; Matt Leibold, Cascade, Iowa; and John Leibold, Phoenix, Arizona.

Mrs. Meyer was one of the sturdy pioneer mothers whose whole soul was always wrapped up in the welfare of her children, but who could always find time to be a real friend and neighbor. She was thus so endeared to her family and many friends that her passing away will leave a gap that will be keenly felt.

A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends gathered at the church to pay their last respects to the deceased and the beautiful floral offerings gave evidence of the esteem in which she was held in the community. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereft family in their hour of great sorrow. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mike Leibold, New Hampton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Matt Leibold, Cascade, Iowa; Mary Ann Heiberger, Farley, Iowa; Mrs. Rose Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD; Matt Meyer, Mott, ND; Lewis Meyer and family, Wessington, SD.

CARD OF THANKS: We wish in this manner to express our sincere thanks to friends and neighbors who gave us sympathy and aid during the bereavement occasioned by the death of our beloved mother and sister. We shall not forget the many kindnesses shown us by friends and neighbors.
