Aloysius Meyer was born in Alsace, Germany, November 27, 1850, coming with his parents to America settling in New York State in 1854. Here he resided for a number of years and then moved to Dubuque County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. February 21, 1871, he was married to Theresia Leibold at Dubuque.

In 1883 he with his family came to Miner County where he has resided until his sudden death which occurred from a stroke of paralysis September 21st, 1917, while hauling sand from the gravel pit.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, six sons and one daughter, Katie T. Schmit, who were all present at the funeral except William of Bellingham, Washington. Those present from abroad were John A. and Matt J. of Mott, ND; Mike, Burt, ND; Lewis, Blunt, SD; Peter, Morristown, SD; and Kate and husband, Carthage. Others present were his brothers Peter, Wabasha, Minnesota; Frank and George and their wives of Waupeton, Iowa; Matt Leibold, Sand Spring, Iowa; Mike Leibold, New Hampton, Iowa; Mrs. Katherine Heiberger, Farly, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Heiberger, Bridgewater, SD.

The funeral was held from St. Agatha's Catholic Church Monday; Father Stecher officiating.
