Born in Brecknock Township, he was a son of the late Martin and Mary Keifer Messner.
He was a farmer and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Center.
Messner is survived by his widow, Amy Shirk Messner and these four sons: Roy R.,husband of Catharine Burkholder Messner and Howard L., husband of Helen Burkholder Messner, both of East Earl R1; Henry and Irvin R., both of Denver R1. There are 16 grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister:
Chester of Bowmansville, and Almeda, wife of
Paul Good, Terre Hill Star Route.
