Died in the home of his niece, Mrs Arthur Hilligoss after suffering a stroke. At the age of 17 he enlisted in Company E, 101st Indiana Volunteer Infantry which was organized at Anderson. He was mustered into service Sept 7, 1862. After discharge he came to Tipton county where brother Thomas Gross had located. He was highly respected and was known as Uncle Harve.
