Herman L. "Clem" Laubert, 79, of Terre Haute, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Lott, Texas, to Peter and Josephine Laubert.

He was preceded in death earlier this year by his beloved wife of 56 years, Delores J. Poff Laubert. He is survived by his six children, Randy Laubert, Bruce Laubert, Karen Neidhamer (Mike); Brent Laubert (Jerri); Brad Laubert (Tracey), all of Terre Haute, and Cindy Oxendine (Randy) of Staunton; 10 grandchildren, Anita, Jennifer, Jason, Andrea, Darin, Megan, Chloe, Dustin, Mallory, and Cameron; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are eight brothers and sisters, Alvin, Lawrence, Joseph, Ervin, Sister Ann Bernadette, Angie, Emma and Josephine; and many nieces and nephews, all of Texas. He also was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Edmund.

Clem was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving as a radio operator in Alaska, Montana and Rockville, Ind. He worked at Moore-Langen Printing for 38 years. After retirement, Coach Clem and his wife, Delores, taught bowling to elementary students in the Vigo County School Corporation for many years.

He was deeply devoted to St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was a member for 47 years, serving regularly as an usher and Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 541. As an avid sportsman, Clem was a member of the Greater Terre Haute Bowling Association Hall of Fame, 700 Club, Indiana Softball Hall of Fame, and a lifetime member of Valley Field and Stream. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Clem will be deeply missed.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Rick Ginther presiding. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for today, Sept. 21, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Patrick Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th St., assisted with arrangements.

The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Patrick Soup Kitchen, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803 or to the Union Hospital Foundation, 1606 N. 7th St., Terre Haute, IN 47804.
