August Brunner

August “Gus” Brunner, 82, of Windsor died Monday, May 24, at the Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit.

He was born Jan 14, 1917 on a farm near Windsor to Jacob and Betty (Fritzler) Brunner and attended schools in Windsor and Severance.

On Dec. 27, 1938, he married Helen Hettinger in Laramie, Wyo.

Mr. Brunner lived and farmed in the Windsor area until 1949. He was employed by the Farm Bureau Insurance Co. in January 1948 and retired in 1984.

Mr. Brunner was a member of the First Methodist Church of Windsor. A charter member of the Weld County Farm Bureau, he was a member for 50 years. He also was a member of ‘the Windsor/Severance Historical Society.

Survivors are his wife, Helen M. Brunner of Windsor; a son, Gerald L. “Jerry” Brunner of Fort Collins; two sisters, Emma Kindsfater of Greeley and Frieda Tanner of Eugene, Ore.; two brothers, Jake Brunner Jr. of Windsor and Ben Brunner of Carefree, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church of Windsor. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Windsor.

Friends may visit from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Adamson Windsor Memorial Chapel.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado Inc. or the First Methodist Church of Windsor in care of the Windsor Chapel.
