Jake Brunner
Jake Brunner, 89, of Windsor, Colo., died Jan. 9, 2000, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo.
Jake was born Dec. 26, 1910, to Jacob and Elizabeth Betty (Fritzler) Brunner in Windsor, Colo. He grew up and went to school in the Windsor and Severance communities of Colorado.
On Dec. 18, 1932, Jake married Tillie Buxmann at Jake’s family home, west of Severance. After their marriage, he worked for Great Western Sugar Company for 14 years. He and his wife farmed and fed cattle and sheep, from 1946 until 1968, in the Windsor area. They moved into Windsor in 1968 and have lived there since.
He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for 20 years, a member of the Cattle Feeders Association and a member of the Lamb Feeders Association.
Jake is survived by son, Dan J. Brunner Sr., and three grandsons, Dan Brunner Jr., Brett J. Brunner and Anthony J. Brunner, all of Windsor; brother Ben Brunner of Carefree, Ariz.; two sisters, Emma Kindsfater of Greeley and Frieda Tanner of Eugene, Ore.; special friend Clara Hettinger of Windsor; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie, who died Feb. 3, 1997; grandson, Russell Brunner; two sisters, Mollie Reifschneider and Ellen Reifschneider; and two brothers Henry Brunner and Gus Brunner.
Funeral services were Jan. 12 at Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor and interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor.
