Edwin T. “Hank” Cerny, age 70, of 920 Dearborn St., Iowa City died Saturday, June 6, 1992, at Mercy Hospital from cancer.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 9, at Sorden’s Funeral Home with Pastor Blake Richter officiating. Burial was at the Lone Tree Cemetery. A General Memorial has been established.

Edwin “Hank” was born November 22, 1921 in Lincoln Township, Lone Tree to parents Charles and Matilda (Knotek) Cerny.

He married Virginia Alene Cooper on January 27, 1946 in Cairo, Iowa. He had been a farmer and a painter. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, and children Jerry of Cedar Rapids, Rick of Iowa City and Kimberly K. of Iowa City; also three grandchildren and two brothers Maynard Cerny of Lone Tree and Donald Cerny of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister, Evelyn, and a brother, Robert.

Honorary Pallbearers were Wayne Carpenter, Marvin Nost, Charles Crawford and Ralph Neuzil. Pallbearers were Scott Moore, Bradley Moore, Brian Hudachek, Randy Hudachek and Alan Burr.
