OBITUARY

DARROUZETT – James Martin LAURIE, aged 87, pioneer farmer-rancher, died Sunday at his home near Darrouzett.

Services were held in the First United Methodist Church of Darrouzett on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Brad Reeves, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Lipscomb Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck.

Mr. LAURIE was born in Norwich, Kansas on April 9, 1896, and came to Lipscomb County in 1923. A farmer and rancher for the past sixty years, he was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1920.

He married Emma SCHNEIDER in Higgins, Texas, on December 23, 1928. They had recently celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary.

Mr. LAURIE was preceded in death by a son, Donald Dhu.

Survivors include his wife, Emma; four sons, Milton of Kress, Jimmy of Roby, R. T. of White Deer, David of Booker; four daughters, Shirley BEAL of Amarillo, Cheri STEED of Bakersfield, California, Kathryn PAUL of Lipscomb, Karen MINYEN of Canadian; twenty-two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
