William A. Philippi was born at Bruning, Neb., February 14, 1886. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Bruning.
October 24, 1911, he was united in marriage to Lucia Sophia Bruning. They made their home in Bruning where he was engaged in the hardware business and also was a funeral service director. In 1931, he moved his family to Ohiowa, serving that community in the same capacity. His wife and a daughter preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, Frank W. of Omaha and William of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Gertrude) Meyer, Mrs. Donald T. (Ruth) Moore of Casper, Wyo., Mrs. Robert L. (Irma) Theobald of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Lawrence (Esther) Domeier of Lincoln, Nebr.; two brothers, Fred Philippi of Muscatine, Ia., and Theodore Philippi of Geneva; one sister, Mrs. Herman (Lena) Springer of Muscatine, Ia., 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
After the passing of his wife in 1968, he lived in the Heritage Home in Geneva the past three years.
August 26, 1972, he passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 28, in St. John's Lutheran Church at Ohiowa. He was laid to rest beside his wife and daughter in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Bruning.
