Adolph was in the jewelry business for about 25 years beginning in Dodge Nebraska in 1905. In Dodge, he was active in civic affairs and a member of the village board for 15 years. He and his wife Emily moved to Scribner, Nebraska in 1938. He was appointed a state deputy sheriff, employed by the State Liquor Commission in 1935 and continued that work until he retired about 1953. He had a son that died in infancy (one undocumented source gives the name 'Hugo'.)
