Elisabeth Roesch was born in Baiersdorf, Bavaria in February of 1850 to Johann Georg Roesch a railroad worker, and Anna Walz. She immigrated with her parents and 2 of her 3 sisters on the ship "City of Boston" which landed in New York on December 13, 1865. All 3 girls married quite young, but no trace of their parents have ever been found in the US. It is possible that both parents may have died on board the ship, since hash marks appear next to their names on the passenger list. An older sister, Anna who married Samuel Michael, may have raised them near Dorseyville. Elisabeth married George John Ferber in 1867 and their first 4 children were baptized at St. Paul's German Eveangelical Lutheran Church in McCandless Township. After a farm accident in O'Hara Township around the year 1900, George was permanently crippled and Elisabeth ran the farm along with her youngest 4 children. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 1920 and the couple lived in retirement in a small Pleasant Valley home until her death in October 1922. She was buried in the Etna Cemetery from the Holzheimer & Bock Funeral Home. Her son moved her to a new family plot in Greenwood in 1936. Other members of the family were also moved, but no records of the removals are listed in the interments.
