"Jonathan Dean was born on the 1st of January, 1808 in Pennsylvania, reportedly near Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was the second son of Benjamin 1777 and Henrietta Dean. Jonathan Dean was married to Maria Dunn on the 9th of April, 1838, in Knox County, Ohio * Source: Knox County, Ohio Marriage Records, volume D, page 91, and they had at least seven children; Benjamin A. Dean 1838-1854, died 16 years old in Randolph, Indiana; Lucinda M. Dean 1840-1912, married Frederick Stahl; George W. Dean 1843-1864, died 20 years old in Civil War; Joseph F. Dean 1845-1866, died 20 years old, Union Army, Civil War; Sarah E. Dean 1848-1907, married Stephen R. Aldridge; Ruth E. Dean 1850-1906?, married Sidney D. Shoemaker 1834-1886; Henrietta Mary Dean 1854-1925, married David L. Aldridge.
