Albert and Bertha had four children: Marvin Edward (1924-2006), Zelma Darlene (1926-2014), Irma Illiene (1930-1964), and Dorothy Alberta (1933-2018).

--They resided on a farm near Bertha's parents Walter & Ida in McKittrick during their marriage & sometime after 1930, they came to live with Albert and Bertha. Also, in 1934, Albert's elderly paternal grandmother C. Bertha (Rehmert) Schmidt of Hermann came to live with them.

--Albert & Bertha divorced in January 1940 when Albert was serving time in the state penitentiary. Albert's grandmother C. Bertha Schmidt remained with his ex-wife Bertha Z. Schmidt.

--Albert moved to St. Louis after this & worked as a dairy laborer.

--Albert married (2) Irene Mary Smith secondly.

--Albert died of gallbladder cancer at age 55. He and Irene were re-married on his deathbed. They had been divorced 1-2 times during their marriage.

--He was survived by wife Irene of Saint Louis; Four children: Marvin Schmidt & wife Darlene of Saint Louis, Darlene Kattelmann & husband Elmer, Irma Schmidt, and Dorothy "Dot" Schmidt, all of Hermann; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Rauh and husband Fred of Saint Louis, Mrs. Alma Hartenberger and husband Elmer of Albuquerque, NM, Mrs. Laura Mueller and husband Lee of Owensville, and Mrs. Quinta Racherbaumer and husband Walter of Rosebud; three aunts, Armalia "Mollie" Huston of Independence and Dena Tuepker of Concordia, and Mrs. Mary Krull; two uncles, William Ahring of Caseyville, Illinois, and George Ahring of Buckner, MO.

--His body was removed to Oklahoma for a September 23rd burial according to his death certificate. Curiously, there is no record of his burial in the cemetery there, and a burial permit in Saint Louis was open for his burial.
