William Carl Schumacher, 68, Town Herman farmer, died Tuesday at St. Nicholas Hospital following a brief illness. Born Oct. 11, 1888, in town Herman, the son of Simon and Anna Schumacher, he was baptized by the Rev. C. T. Martin and confirmed April 5, 1903, at the Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church in Town Herman by the same minister. On Nov. 9, 1913, he was married to Frieda Gosse, and they made their home on the present farm since their marriage. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church all his life and served as an elder of the congregation for six years.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Orval (Lorraine) Schneider of Town Herman; three grandchildren; one brother, Oscar, of Town Herman; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Knoener of Town Herman and Mrs. Harry Erbstoeszer of Haven. One sister, Mrs. Lydia Werthmann preceded him in death.
