Oscar Schumacher, 89, formerly of Howards Grove, died at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center Friday afternoon. He had been a resident there since October 1977.
He was born Dec. 17, 1892, son of Simon and Anna Arnhoelter Schumacher.
On Nov. 13, 1915, he married Lillie Erbstoeszer. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 1980.
He farmed the Schumacher homestead farm until his retirement. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman.
Survivors are his wife, of Rocky Knoll; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Mildred) Kueter of Howards Grove, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Barret of Ocala, Fla., Mrs. Lyle (Delores) Reichardt of Kiel; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, one brother, two sisters and one stepsister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Immanuel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman. The Rev. Clarence Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Ahrens Funeral Home, Howards Grove, from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, until 11 a.m. Tuesday and at the church from noon until the time of services.
