Mrs. Elizabeth M. Ertel, 1212 E. Willard St., widow of John Ertel, a former member of the Muncie Police Department, died Monday evening at Ball Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Ertel was born in Oldenburg and had been a resident of Muncie for the past 43 years.
Survivors include four sons, Carroll Jack, Ralph, Kenneth and Royal, all of Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Marcella Gillaspy, LaFayette; five brothers, William and Theodore Tebbe, both of Batesville, Leo Tebbe, Oak Forrest, and Henry and August Tebbe, both of Tipton; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Ertel, of St. Mary's, Mrs. Anna Dickman, Webster, and Mrs. Teresa Munchel, Brookville; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was a member. Msgr. Emil A. Schweier will officiate. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rosary will be recited at the mortuary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
