He was baptized on August 21st of the same year in the Swiss Reformed Church. There also he was instructed in the Christian religion and confirmed in March 1890. He was married to Miss Maggie Zimmerman June 20th 1895. They lived on his father's farm for a number of years, then moved to the village of New Glarus, and later on George Marty's farm. In 1906 they came to Belleville and have resided here since that time.
Four children were born to this union, one child died in infancy, and was laid to rest at New Glarus in March 1907. He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, three children, three brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren.
He passed away on Tuesday, May 15, having attained the age of 54 years 9 months and 26 days.
Funeral services were held at the home on Friday conducted by Reverend Grossheusch and interment was at the cemetery at New Glarus.
