Amelia Schmid was born near New Glarus, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Schmid on February 24, 1884 and was confirmed in 1900 by Reverend A. Roth. On December 8, 1904 she was united in marriage with Fred Wurgler, by Reverend Shuh. Mr. Wurgler was employed as a cheesemaker and they lived at Stockton, Illinois for a number of years, also at Ontario, Wisconsin and North Dakota. They returned to New Glarus about 24 years ago. Eight children were born to them, two died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Jacob Bodenmann died two years ago. She was a member of the Swiss Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Ladies' G.U.G. Germania.
Survivors are the husband; three sons, Fred of Bloomington, Illinois, Thomas, of Dallas, Wisconsin, and Raymond, New Glarus; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Lust, of Mount Vernon and Gladys, at home; and adopted grandson, Werner Bodenmann and two other grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Swiss Evangelical and Reformed Church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon with Reverend A. Achtemeier, of Monticello, conducting the services. The body will be taken about noon to the church on Friday from the Zentner funeral home. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
