Henry E. Wagner, son of Jacob and Mary (Bender) Wagner, was born on the family homestead south of Russell, Feb. 13, 1894, and departed this life at the Russell City Hospital May 29, 1981, at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 16 days.

In early infancy he was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. On Nov. 21, 1921 he was united in marriage to Amalia "Mollie" Bender in St. John Lutheran Church, Russell. There were two daughters born to this union, one of whom survives him.

His early life was spent on the farm with his parents and in later adult life, he devoted his life to construction work in the oil fields. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion, of Russell.

To treasure and cherish his memory are his daughter: Mrs. Lois Bachman, Long Beach, Calif.; sisters: Mrs. Mary Funk and Mrs. Elizabeth Krug, both of Russell; Mrs. Molly Funk, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Molly, Jan. 16, 1960; one daughter, Bernice Jenkins, 1972; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral June 1, 1981 at Cline all Faith Chapel, Russell; pastor Herman Frerichs officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Russell with military graveside rites.
