Emanuel Wagner, 62, a resident of Russell for the past 26 years, died Sunday (Mar. 19, 1967) in Russell City Hospital after a short illness.
A lifetime resident of Russell County, he was born June 20, 1904 to Jacob Wagner & Maria "Magdalena" Bender, at the family farm. In early childhood, his family moved to the Boswell Community in Paradise Township, where he attended school and grew to manhood. He married Bertha Schneider Sept. 29, 1930. Employed by the City of Russell for the past 17 years, he had farmed and worked in the oil fields before moving to Russell.
Survivors include the widow, Bertha, 225 E. 13th St., a son, Dale Wagner, Russell; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Riedel, Plains, Mrs. Keith (Mary) Stielow, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Dean (Barbara) Brown, Russell; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Jacob, Henry and John Wagner; three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Funk, Mrs. George A. Krug and Mrs. Henry Funk, all of Russell; and many other relatives and friends. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Wagner, and a sister, Mrs. George P. Bender, preceded him in death.
Funeral serves will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. John Lutheran Church, preceded by a family service at Deines Brothers Funeral Home at 1. Rev. R. G. Sedo will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery with Deines Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
