Edna Lucille Kietzmann, age 21, was the ninth child of fourteen born to Otto M. Kietzmann and Louisa A. Scott Kietzmann. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter M., who died in infancy in 1920 and Joseph Raymond, who was killed in action with the U.S. Army in Normandy, France in 1944, shortly after the beginning of the Allied invasion.

Edna died tragically in an alley near her residence on East Sangamon Avenue in Rantoul, Illinois. At the time of her death, Edna worked at a local beauty salon. The man responsible for Edna's death was convicted of murder and sentenced to 150 years in prison.
