Jerry P. Swoboda
Jerry P. Swoboda homesteaded near Roy in the early 1900’s, farmed near Billings, in Oregon and Minnesota, retiring to Billings. He served in the Army during World War 1 and was a member of the American Legion. He was a kind, gentle man and loved his grand- and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Swoboda, 90, of 1521 West Lane, died Friday in Laurel Nursing Home.
Born in Wesley, Minn., a son of John and Catherine Swoboda, he grew up in Wesley. He married Rose C. Cernohlavec June 14, 1918, in Billings; she died in 1949.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Swoboda of 1521 West Lane; two brothers, Ludvic and Emil, both of New Prague, Minn.: a sister, Mary Barta of Spicer, Minn.: five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Smith Downtown Chapel.
