Mrs. Lily Sy, 88, widow of Fred W., formerly of the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, died Wednesday, July 19, at Maple Crest Home and Sanitarium, Whitelaw, where she had resided for the last 2 ½ years. She had been ill three months.
The former Lily Wagner, she was born Aug. 14, 1883, in the town of Charlestown, a daughter of the late Ansel and Magdalena Lau Wagner.
On Oct. 14, 1908, she was married to Mr. Sy at Hayton and the couple farmed on the Sy homestead for 59 years. Mr. Sy died Oct. 15, 1967.
Mrs. Sy was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, New Holstein. She had formerly been a member of the Dorcas Society of Niles Presbyterian Church, Eaton.
Survivors are a son, Ernest R., R. 1, Valders; a daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Ethel) Thiessen, New Holstein; a brother, Otto Wagner, Chilton; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Two sons and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. John UCC, New Holstein. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Chilton.
