FRED SCHWALBE

Fred Schwalbe, 71, of 1223 Philippen St., Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon in Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Wesley United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. David Passet will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Schwalbe was born October 26, 1906 in the Town of Eaton, son of the late August and Josephine Kautzer Schwalbe. He attended schools in Eaton and was a salesman for Insulation and Supply Co. of Manitowoc for 20 years, retiring in 1973. He married Irene Elizabeth Griffin Shier January 27, 1973, residing in Manitowoc since. He was a member of Manitowoc Masonic Lodge F and AM, No. 65, Scottish Rites and Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Fetterly of Milwaukee and Lois and Dean Markwardt of Marshfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Kermit and Laura Schwalbe of Manitowoc and four grandchildren. His first wife, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call in Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday and then in the church from noon until the time of service. A Masonic memorial service will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
