Mrs. August J. Schwalbe, 76, of 1412 Hamilton St., Manitowoc, died at the Holy
Family Hospital, Tuesday morning, following a brief illness.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. L. H. Kieninger will officiate and burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born Josephine Kautzer in Sheboygan in 1874, and in 1897 was married to
Mr. Schwalbe. They located on a farm in Eaton and moved to Manitowoc 24 years
ago.
Survivors are the husband; daughter, Mrs. Walter Gottschalk of Manitowoc; five
sons, Reuben, Rene, Merl, Fred and Kermit all of Manitowoc; brother, Joseph of
Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Freund of Manitowoc, Mrs. George Barnard
of Reedsville and Mrs. John Klabachek of Sheboygan; 10 grandchildren and six
great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after
Wednesday noon. The casket will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
