August and Anne emigrated to the United States in 1885 and August became a naturalized citizen. His occupation in the 1900 U.S. Census for Summit, Langlade, Wisconsin was stationary engineer. The record showed they had been married for 14 years and that both his parents had been born in Sweden, and that his wife (who is unnamed in the census), as well as her parents, had been born in Denmark.
Their two daughters, Amelie (born April 1873) and Anna (born April 1890) were living with them in 1900. Amelie was born in Denmark, was 27 years old and married (though her husband isn't in the household at this time). Anna was born in Wisconsin and was 10 years old in 1900.
