MORRIS PIONEER GRANDMA HANSEN
HAS GIVEN MUCH OF HER LIFE TO THE HELPING OF OTHERS

At the home where she had lived since pioneer days Mrs. Johanna Hansen, familiarly known as "Grandma" Hansen, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 18, after an illness of two weeks. The end was peaceful, without pain or struggle there was but a cessation of breathing.

Johanna Tullberg was born in Juleborg, Sweden on Oct. 4, 1838. She was married to Waldemar Hansen June 14, 1860. They came to this country and settled in Chicago soon after the great fire, where he worked as a carpenter. Later they made their home at Manitowoc, then came on to the wilderness in the town of Morris in 1879.

She is one of the last survivors of those early pioneers. Hers was a life of usefulness and utter unselfishness. Many are the homes that can bless her memory because of her kindly ministrations in times of sickness and dire distress. Her chief desire was to serve others without a thought of consequence. The tribute paid her by a practitioner who was a pioneer and by whose side she had helped nurse many a sick one back to health is perhaps, as true an index to her life and character as could be found "One of the best and most useful citizens that the town of Morris has known or will know has passed away."

Funeral services were held Monday P.M. at the house and later from the Norwegian Lutheran church of which she was a life long member. Rev. Maasted, pastor of the congregation preached a beautiful and comforting message.

Kind friends and neighbors assembled with the family to share their sorrow and pay a last tribute to the departed. The choir rendered the music, which was beautiful and comforting to the bereaved.

The beautiful casket which held the loved form was borne by six of her grandsons. The body was committed to its final resting-place in the family lot in the church cemetery.

The floral were most beautiful and appropriate. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Augusta Boldig and Mrs., Otto Terkleson and one son Wallie with whom she has always lived and one brother Olaf Tullberg, also 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

While her lighted face shall shine no more, the memory of her sweetness shall be preserved.
