The Kingsley News-Times, 13 June 1963, page 1: Mrs. Emma C. Riemenschneider, 80, a former long time resident of the Kingsley and Pierson areas, passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Leona Pottorff in Sioux City on Tuesday, June 4, 1963, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, June 6, at 2 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Henry Prieb, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the Rock Branch cemetery under direction of W. Harry Christy Funeral Home of Morningside. Pallbearers were grandsons. Mrs. Riemenschneider, the former Emma Bauer, was born May 21, 1883, at Walnut, Iowa. She lived at Walnut two years and then moved with her family to a farm north of Pierson. She married August Riemenschneider August 16, 1905. They farmed near Kingsley and moved to Pierson in 1920. They went to Sioux City in 1943 where Mr. Riemenschneider died October 5, 1952. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church near Rock Branch and the church's Ladies Aid Society. Survivors besides Mrs. Pottorff include two other daughters, Mrs. Theresa Meissner of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Ireen Schmidt of Marathon, Iowa; a son, Ralph of Kingsley, three brothers, Julius and Henry Bauer of Kingsley and Carl of Pierson, four sisters, the Misses Marie, Ella and Elsa Bauer of Pierson and Mrs. Adela Hardersen of Sioux City, 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, one in infancy and the other, Emery, in recent years.
