Josephine was born Agnes Josephine Bäuning in Osterdamme, Niedersachsen, Germany and baptized at St. Victor Catholic Church in Damme, Niedersachsen, Germany on June 24, 1863.
Arrived in the USA on 29 Aug 1881.

Mrs. Josephine Schulte,85, pioneer resident of Freeport, died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Rolfes.
The body will be at her residence until the funeral hour, arrangements for which have not been completed.
Mrs.Schulte was Josephine Beuning, born in Germany on June 21, 1863. At the age of 17 she came to America with her parents who settled in Freeport. Her marriage to Anton Schulte took place on January 10, 1882. He died on January 30, 1925.
Children surviving are: Mrs. Joseph Goebel, New Munich; Anton Schulte and Mrs. Henry Rolfes, Freeport; Paula Schulte, Los Angeles; Lawrence, Wadena; Sr. Sarah OSB, Albany. there are 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schulte was a member of the Christian Mothers society.
