William Kindler was born at Burke, Mecklenburg, Germany, on February 27, 1863 and died October 29, 1939 (at 2:40 a.m. ), having reached the age of 76 years, eight months and two days.

He had been in failing health for nearly three years but was able to be up and around until two weeks before his death, when he took sick and developed pneumonia. He came to this country on September 1, 1885, landed in New York, and remained there for some time. Later, with his mother, he settled in Iowa. He lived for a while South Dakota and then moved back to Iowa, where his mother passed away.

In 1889, he was united in marriage to Mary Possehl. To this union five children were born. In 1900, his wife passed away while they were living in Murray County, Minnesota. In 1904, he was united in marriage to Alvina Possehl and moved to Lyon County, Minnesota, where he remained until his death. To this union eight children were born, two daughters preceding him in death. Elsie died in infancy, and Sophia, Mrs. H. Bardahl, passed away in 1935.

Those surviving besides his wife are John, Lamberton, Minnesota; Annie (Mrs. F. Hellvig), Arco, Minnesota; William, Lynd, Minnesota; Albert, Ghent, Minnesota; Fred, Hillman, Minnesota; Minnie (Mrs. Roy Rasmussen), Carpenter, South Dakota; Lillian, (Mrs. Kenneth Lokker) Slayton, Minnesota; Edward, Joseph, Hannah and Luella, at home. Also one adopted child, Mrs. Ella Hobzopfel, now living in Saint Paul, Minnesota, 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two half brothers and one sister, their whereabouts unknown.
