Former Resident Dies in Colorado

Peter Yost, a former Culbertson resident, died Saturday in Akron, Colo., at the age of 92.

Funeral services were held here Tuesday in the Seventh-Day Adventist church, with Pastor F.C. Cook officiating. Burial was made in the Culbertson cemetery under the direction of the Herrmann Funeral Home.

Peter Yost was born Aug. 17, 1867, in Norka, Russia, where he lived until his marriage on Jan. 16, 1890. He and his bride came to the United States following their marriage and made their home in Culbertson, where he was employed for a time as a section foreman by the Burlington railroad. They later moved to a farm one mile east of Culbertson.

In 1919, they retired from farming and established a home in the village of Culbertson, where they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a family reunion in 1940.

Mr. Yost had been a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist church since 1925.

His wife, Katherine, preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 1946. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, who died in infancy, and by one son, Martin, who died in Denver in 1959.

Mr. Yost's survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth McDonald of McCook and Mrs. Mary Fassler of Akron, Colo.; one son, Peter, of Denver; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lena Dodd of Denver and Mrs. Mary Burkett of Long Beach, Calif.
