Elda Eunice Lenhart, May 30th, 1919 – March 27th, 2011

Elda Lenhart completed her 91-year journey through life on Sunday morning, March 27th 2011, surrounded by her loving daughter and granddaughter in Colorado Springs. She was born in Greeley, May 30th, 1919, to John and Mary Katherine Borgens.

She married Henry Lenhart on August 30th, 1936, in Fort Collins, where they farmed until moving to Venice, California in 1955 and then Desert Hot Springs, California in 1965. Following Henry’s death in 1998, Elda moved to Cottonwood, Arizona, and then to Colorado Springs to be near her family.

Elda worked at Triad and Litton industries for 9 years, and 16 years at Paul’s Association in Palm Springs, California. She was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. Her main passion, however, was thriving as “Grandma” for the past 52 years to her two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Irv Norton from Peyton, Colorado and son and daughter-in-law, Henry (Hank) and Marilee Lenhart from Prescott, Arizona. Two grandchildren are Vickie and husband Bill Roy from Colorado Springs, Colorado as well as Dale Norton and his wife Cherri from Colorado Springs, Colorado; Great-grandchildren include Halcyon (CJ) Carter, Jacob Norton, Jamie Linde, Jordan Norton, Charina Willis, Krista Roy, and Summerque Roy. Great-great-grandchildren are Viana Carter, Brooke Carter, Ally Linde, Alexander Norton, Ram Carter, Daniel Linde, and CharlyAnn Carter.

Her surviving siblings include Madeline Wambolt of Greeley, Mildred Meyer of Loveland, Betty Olson of Fort Collins, Ruby Hunter of Clarksville, Arkansas, George Borgens of Napa, Idaho, and half-sister Helen Stroh of Longmont.

She was preceded in death by siblings Raymond “Bud” Borgens, Benjamin Borgens, Irline Gettman, and several half-sisters and brothers.

Through her recent battle with cancer, her abiding hope was to reunite with her dear husband, Hank. We feel joy in knowing they are together now watching over their precious family members here on earth and those on the other side. Their 62 years of blissful and blessed marriage was a marvelous example for friends and family alike.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2 at Allnutt Funeral Service in Loveland, CO followed by interment in the Loveland Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations gratefully accepted by the Angel View Crippled Children Foundation, 12-379 Miracle Hill Road, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240, or the American Cancer Society, or Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Ste. 600, Colorado Springs, CO 80903-3624.
