Elmer Davis, age 76 of Prestonsburg, KY., husband of Ruth Ann Burchett Davis, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the East KY Veteran Center, Hazard, KY.
He was born July 29, 1938, in Dwale, KY., a son of the late Mansford and Vina Webb Davis.
He was retired from Kroger, a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Johnny Davis, Eugene Davis, Harold Davis, one sister, Earnestine Clay, one grandson, Max Mansford Davis.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Mike (Janice) Davis, Prestonsburg, KY., Robert (Carey) Davis, Prestonsburg, KY., two daughters, Anita Davis of Paintsville, KY., and April (Jamie) Collins, Paintsville, KY., six brothers,Taulbee Davis, Biloxi, MS., James Howard Davis, Prudenville, MI,, Clarence Isaac Davis, Prestonsburg, KY., Delbert Davis, Sevierville, TN., Richard Davis, River, KY. & William Davis, Dandridge, TN., four sisters, Irene Stephens, Allen, KY., Mary Ruth Clay, Cincinnati, OH., Loretta Henderson, Heath, OH., and Phoebe Sowards, Ecorse, MI., eight grandchildren, Shawn Davis, Christopher Barker, Kayla Cord, Ashley Champ, Leann Shortridge, Morgan Davis, Courtney Collins, and Bret Davis, six great-grandchildren, Lauren Davis, Matthew Davis, Peyton Shortridge, Aubree Cord, Ryan Cord and Mason Lee Champ, two step-grandchildren, JR Ousley and Lisa Salisbury and one step-great-grandchild; Braxton Cord.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with Ray Sayers and Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY.
