Levi Lengel
Levi E. Engle, 80, LaSalle, died Monday, Oct. 10, at the Bonnell Good Samaritan Center.
He was born Oct. 1, 1903, to Jonathan and Elizabeth (Gutting) Lengel in Colorado.
On July 10, 1947, he married Mary Alice Harmon at Wray (Colorado).
Lengel grew up in rural Burlington and was graduated from Burlington High School. He farmed in the Burlington area and attended McPherson College. He then taught school. After his marriage he was a clerk for the highway department at Wray. He moved to Berthoud in 1951 and farmed. He then ran the tourist court in Greeley. He went to work for the Greeley Irrigation Co. for five years. He moved to his farm at La Salle in 1959.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Salle.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Alice of La Salle; a daughter, Martha A. Lengel of Wheat Ridge; a son David E. of Torrington, Wyo.; two sisters, Anna Mills of Sterling, Kan., and Mrs Clyde (Ida) Vincent of Hays, Kan.; two brothers, John B. of La Salle, and Ben L. of Burlington; and a grandson. Two brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of La Salle in Care of the Stoddard Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. [Published in the “Greeley Tribune,” October 12, 1983, Page A4 - MDP]
